About Zane

Thank you so much for your interest.

I wanted to have a spot to introduce myself and where you could get to know me a little in case I might be a good fit to work with you.

I have been licensed as a Psychologist since 2001. I lived overseas in Asia (South Korea) for 13 years, giving me a chance to really get to know Korean culture as well as to travel the world like crazy! (I know, Psychologists probably shouldn't use the word crazy).

While in Korea, I was a part of establishing a psychology practice for expat clients from all over the world. It was interesting to work with so many different cultures and I am grateful for the experience as now I feel I have a certain therapeutic agility; the ability to adapt quickly to work with people from all sorts of backgrounds.

For fun, I mostly enjoy anything that involves traveling, particularly if it's on two wheels. I'm probably too old for it but I like dirt biking in the mountains outside of Calgary, motorcycle touring trips (most recently did a looong ride from the Maritimes down through the Southern United States) and in the winter, snow biking (I guess that doesn't actually have any wheels, but you get the idea)... but really, any kind of travel always gets me excited!

Current Professional Work

I work with children, teens and parents, adults couples and families. My training is in family therapy which really means a focus on the relationships a person holds with others, with their culture, their workplace and even the relationship they have with themselves. This allows me to address a wide range of issues, regardless of who all comes into the therapy room.

I employ the Cognitive Behavioral Model (CBT) to give clients a solid understanding of how things play out between their thoughts, emotions and bodies as well as concrete strategies for how to manage things such as anxiety, depressed mood, stress and so on.

I also volunteer with MENSA Canada as the National Supervising Psychologist, overseeing the admissions program.

Calgary/Alberta

In 2018 my business partner and I took over a long established Calgary  practice from our mentor, Dr. Jon Amundson. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity and am proud to continue his legacy in Calgary. We are pleased to have a solid team there that can address most every issue.

My Registration number in Alberta is #2651.

New Brunswick

In 2023 I have been seeking to answer the significant  demand for psychological support by the people of New Brunswick...or perhaps more to the point, to address the wait-list problem.

Open to all without the need for a referral, virtual and in-person appointments are being made available for New Brunswick citizens. I'm working to build a team that will be able to meet a wide variety of issues for people and to be able to provide services in a timely fashion (you will receive a response within two weeks).

Also, I am very excited to announce that we are partnering with local Physicians to provide priority access for their patients, meaning a response to you within two days and an offer of an appointment within two weeks!

My License number in New Brunswick is #796.
